Questions
Questions
and answers.
Everything we are often asked about Final, from the principle to living with it at home.
01 / The principle
How a Final
makes sound.
The electrostatic principle behind every model.
What is an electrostatic loudspeaker?
A charged, very thin diaphragm moves between two stators. The changing electric field moves the diaphragm, which moves the air.
Does every Final use the same principle?
Yes. Final Wavefield™, the electrostatic principle, runs through every model. The models differ in panel size and in how the system is arranged.
Why are the panels open?
An electrostatic panel radiates to the front and rear. Its relationship with the room is part of the listening setup.
02 / Choosing a Final
Two ranges,
six models.
Ready to Play, or Made to be Configured.
What happened to the model names?
Since October 30, 2026, every model is called Final, followed by four digits. The first two name the panel, the last two the configuration: 00 for the standard panels, 10 for the wall-mount version, 30 and 40 with one or two external bass units, 50 with integrated bass, 70 with integrated bass and amplification.
| Old name | New name |
|---|---|
| 3+ | Final 1300 |
| 5+ | Final 1500 |
| 5+ Hybrid (5H) | Final 1550 |
| 5+ Active (5 H-A) | Final 1570 |
| 7+ | Final 1700 |
| 7+ Hybrid (7H) | Final 1750 |
| 7+ Active (7 H-A) | Final 1770 |
| 12+ | Final 3200 |
| 15+ | Final 3300 |
| 35+ | Final 3900 |
How are the two ranges different?
The Final 1300, Final 1500 and Final 1700 are Ready to Play: the clearest, easiest path to worry-free listening, with no need to dive into specifications. The Final 3200, Final 3300 and Final 3900 are Made to be Configured: full-range electrostatic panels that owners tune to their configuration of amplifiers, bass units and more, or that their dealer curates for them.
Which version of the Final 1300, Final 1500 or Final 1700 should I choose?
A complete system is the simplest: the Final 1570 and Final 1770 have integrated bass and amplification, so you just add a streamer. The Final 1550 and Final 1750 have integrated bass and connect to your own amplifier. The panels also use your own amplifier, with an external bass (numbers ending in 30 or 40) or on the wall (ending in 10). The Final 1300 comes as panels only. Your dealer can help you choose.
How do I choose between models?
Start with the space you have, the system you enjoy and the music you know. Compare dimensions, then hear your shortlist with a dealer. A listening session is the best way to make the choice your own.
Is a larger speaker always the right choice?
Your room, listening position and system matter. Compare the formats and hear a shortlist with a dealer.
Where can I find the dimensions?
Each product page includes dimensions and the original drawing. You can also find all six drawings in Support. For the Final 1300, Final 1500 and Final 1700 they show the panels; dimensions of the other versions are available on request.
03 / Your system and amplification
Amplifier,
bass and source.
What each version needs, and what it already has.
Do all models need an external bass?
No. The Final 3200, Final 3300 and Final 3900 are full-range electrostatic designs. For the Final 1300, Final 1500 and Final 1700 it depends on the version: the Final 1570 and Final 1770 are complete systems, the Final 1550 and Final 1750 have a bass unit in the base, and the panels take an external bass.
What does passive mean?
A passive loudspeaker is driven by a separate, external amplifier. The full-range Final 3200, Final 3300 and Final 3900 are passive, and so are the Final 1550, the Final 1750 and the panels of the Final 1300, Final 1500 and Final 1700, which take an external bass for the lowest frequencies. The Final 1570 and Final 1770 have amplification built in.
What does integrated amplification mean?
The Final 1570 and Final 1770 have bass, amplification and digital signal processing integrated: a complete system, just add a streamer. The source and volume control are then matched to the specific version with your dealer.
What does integrated bass mean?
Integrated bass combines the electrostatic panel with a bass loudspeaker in the base, so no external bass is needed. It is available as the Final 1550 and Final 1750, which connect to your own amplifier. Your dealer can tell you which versions are available.
Can I use the amplifier I already own?
Very likely, with every version except the Final 1570 and Final 1770, which have amplification built in. Final’s published recommendation is 50 to 150 watts per channel. Bring the make and model to your listening session and your dealer will confirm the pairing; the technical values are in the specifications of each model.
What kind of system do the Final 3200, Final 3300 and Final 3900 need?
They are passive full-range electrostatic loudspeakers. Connect them to an external amplifier and the music source you prefer. A dealer can help you match the components and the room.
04 / Placement and rooms
A place
in your room.
Where the panels stand, and how they meet the room.
How should I position the speakers?
Start with both panels facing your listening position, with some space between the panels and the wall. Your dealer can help refine distance and angle for your room.
Can the Final 1300, Final 1500 and Final 1700 be mounted on the wall?
Yes. The wall-mount versions are the Final 1310, Final 1510 and Final 1710. Your dealer can tell you which versions suit your wall.
Can Final be used for home theater?
Yes. Discuss the room layout, channel roles, bass and installation with Final and your specialist.
05 / Listening and buying
From listening
to living with it.
A private listening, then a Final at home.
How do I arrange a listen?
Choose a country, a partner and the models you would like to hear. The partner confirms the appointment and which models are available.
What should I bring to a listening session?
A few familiar tracks and some information about your room and equipment are a useful start.
What if there is no partner near me?
Final will arrange a listening for you. Choose your country when you arrange a listen, and Final will contact you.
What happens after I choose?
Your Final dealer delivers, installs and tunes it at home, for your room and your chair.
06 / Ownership and service
Living
with Final.
Documents, registration and service.
Which model do I have?
Check the model name and serial label on your loudspeaker, together with your purchase documents. Include both when contacting Final.
How do I register my Final?
Register it in Support, so your model, serial number and purchase details are kept together.
Where can I find a user manual?
Ask Final for the manual that matches your model and version. The documents page provides the available original dimension drawings.
What should I include in a service inquiry?
Your model, serial number, purchase date, dealer and a clear description of what you are experiencing. Final or your dealer can then advise on the next step.
How can I share my experience?
Contact Final with your story and ask about contributing. Owner contributions should only be published with permission.
